Annealed, rolled gold and silver sheet.

Today’s rolled and annealed gold and silver (top right) sheets have such lovely colors. Gold and silver always change color somehow upon heating, but it’s usually a muddled gray-to-black-ish hue. This particular project, however, happens to be for an awesome chick who is allowing me to mix and match some of her parents’ jewelry into a highly personalized piece that is not karat-bound. (i.e. some of the jewelry she gave me might not be “real”, or of an odd karat, but she gave it to me to include in the piece for sentimental reasons) Hence, perhaps, the great range of colors. I’m especially taken with the purples on the “feather” piece. Almost a shame I’ll be cutting, filing and polishing it back to the real color of gold.
