Saint Augustine, FL

This was not my first time here, but St. Augustine is a place I will happily visit any day. If you are vacationing in Florida and need a break from Disney World, Daytona Beach, and Miami, go here.  It is so worth seeing.  Discovered by Ponce De Leon in 1513, according to Wikipedia, Saint Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European-established city and port in the continental United States.  It is home to the oldest masonry fort in the US (Castillo de San Marcos – completed 1695), the grand Alcazar (now the Lightner Museum) and Ponce de Leon (now Flagler College) Hotels, Memorial Presbyterian Church, and many other beautiful structures from bygone eras. We picked up a mooring at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina yesterday afternoon, and I loved just wandering through town.  It would have been nice if we’d spent more time here, but we are underway to Jacksonville as I write. Places to go, people to see!
