No idle hands here...

So I've found a new passion. Yes, another one. Linda took me to a basic beading class back in August, and I haven't stopped making jewelry since. Here are just a few of the things I've made. There's lots more where this came from, but no pics - when I bought my cheapo digital cam, I wasn't counting on taking extreme close-ups of crystals and silver. The following pieces are called Purple Stream (amethyst), Get Up (jasper, labradorite, iolite), True Blue (snowflake obsidian, iolite), Flow (pineapple topaz, fluorite), and Dancing Squares (chalcedony). More when I get more pics!

December 2, 2005 - Isla Mujeres, Mexico

Back home again

There's no place like home. It's just that I have a lot of those. Homes, that is. Besides Miami, of course. I like to think of home as the place where my loved ones are, as well as the places I've lived over the years that I've come to think of as home bases - from my family and childhood home in Holland to friends and places in Florida to friends (and the city) in Los Angeles. Though I miss my other "homes" when I'm away from them, I admit the place where the majority of my stuff (which doesn't amount to much these days) is housed will always be a major place of comfort for me. I had a wonderful time in Holland, but after a 36 hour passage by train, plane, plane, plane, bus, taxi, ferry from Dordrecht to Amsterdam to Chicago to Miami to Cancun to Isla Mujeres I was thrilled to pass out back in my own bed on the boat at 5 pm yesterday.
