WIIIIIIIIILLMMAAAAAAAA!!!!
Isla is not quiet before the storm. Wilma, the record-tying 21st name storm of the season is on her way and the island is bustling. She's a category 5, coming right for us, and people are hoarding groceries, drinking water and fuel. There was a steady parade of small and large boats seeking shelter in the inner lagoon all day long. I watched a big commercial boat plow itself into the beach in the not-so-protected outer bay at a scary speed. It lined up nicely next to the other extra-large boats which can't fit through the channel that leads to the lagoon. We're all bracing ourselves, but the lagoon has been proven a fine hurricane hole in the past. Of course, there's still the one guy who doesn't get it. In the middle of the outer bay, swinging on two measly anchors, sits a mega-motor-yacht with a tender tied on either side of it. I have a feeling it is going to see every corner of the bay before it makes landfall during the storm. But maybe I'm judging that situation prematurely. Its owner still has one day to come to his senses.
